One of the most effective ways to convey your message to members of Congress is to meet with them or their staff in person. That's what NCPA's Month of Action campaign is all about: pressing your legislators and making your voice heard on PBM reform. Members of Congress will be away from Washington, D.C., through Sept. 2 and in their districts, so it's the perfect time to schedule a visit. If you're interested in hosting a legislator or their staff in your pharmacy, fill out this form.
PBM reforms were removed from the budget reconciliation bill earlier this year, but many members of Congress remain committed to protecting their communities' independent pharmacies from predatory middlemen. We must continue pushing Congress to pass the previously agreed-upon reforms, especially those that enhance transparency, ban spread pricing in Medicaid managed care programs, and require CMS to define and enforce reasonable and relevant contract terms, including those related to reimbursements, in Medicare Part D.
We also need you to tell your members of Congress to support the PBM Reform Act, a bill that addresses PBM bad practices that increase costs and limit patient choice and access to medications, including Medicaid managed care payment reform and Medicare Part D contract reforms. Check here to see if your member of Congress has cosponsored the bill. If not, ask them to. If they have, make sure to thank them for their support.
