On Thursday, Jan. 8, NCPA joined the Food Industry Association, the National Grocers Association, and the National Chain Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) to support a panel briefing for congressional staff on “Understanding the Impact of PBMs in Your Congressional District: Why Reform Can't Wait,” hosted by ShopRite Pharmacy and Wakefern Food Corp. The briefing was kicked off with remarks from Reps. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.), Andy Harris (R-Md.), and Rob Bresnahan (R-Penn.) on the importance of PBM reform.
Kaite Krell, NCPA director of congressional affairs, joined Harshil Patel, a pharmacist with Wakefern Food Corporation, and Butch Henderson, a pharmacist with Klein's ShopRite Pharmacies of Maryland, on the panel moderated by Chris Krese, senior vice president of congressional relations and communications at NACDS. Several other pharmacists from Pennsylvania and Maryland attended the briefing and spoke on the impact of PBMs on their stores and their patients.
