Two awards were given at yesterday's second general session at the Annual Convention in recognition of the service the recipients have done to advance community pharmacy practice.
Bob Greenwood, owner and operator of Greenwood Drug Inc. and Greenwood Compounding, Osterhaus Pharmacy and Denver Drug, all located in Iowa, was awarded the 2025 John W. Dargavel Medal, sponsored by McKesson for his advocacy for independent community pharmacies throughout the years.
Greenwood has served as a leader for various professional organizations including as NCPA president from 2010-2011, the American Pharmacists Association, and the Iowa Pharmacy Association. He has mentored many students as a preceptor for the University of Iowa and the Creighton University School of Pharmacy. He also spent 12 years as a member of the Waterloo City Council and in August 2024 joined Creighton University's Board of Trustees. You can read more about Greenwood's award here.
Kevin Day, PharmD, was named CPESN® Luminary of the Year for 2025, sponsored by Prasco. He's a second-generation pharmacist and owner of Day's Miami Heights Pharmacy, and Day's Pharmacy — Glendale in Cincinnati where he focuses on improving patient outcomes through team-based care.
He has been a leader of CPESN Ohio since it formed in 2018 and has been instrumental in growing the network to 100 of the state's highest performing pharmacies. Day is also treasurer of the CPESN USA Board of Managers. He previously served as associate director of strategic initiatives for NCPA. You can read more about Day's award here.
