Earlier this month, Illinois pharmacy owners met with pharmacy champion Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.) at Petersburg Pharmacy, owned by Dave Bagot, the current Illinois Pharmacists Association president. These fierce pharmacy advocates discussed numerous issues affecting pharmacies and patient access, top among them being the need for Congress to pass meaningful federal PBM reform legislation now.
Krishnamoorthi has been an ardent PBM reform supporter for years. He is an original sponsor of H.R. 4317, the PBM Reform Act, and recently introduced H.R. 4409, the Fair Pharmacies for Federal Employees Act. This bill would prohibit the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program from contracting with entities that both manage prescription drug benefits and own or control a pharmacy.
