Hawaii becomes tenth state to reimburse pharmacists’ services from public and private payers

NCPA July 3, 2025

This week, Gov. Josh Green (D-Hawaii) signed S.B. 1245, a bill that recognizes pharmacists as health care providers and requires all insurers within the state to reimburse services within their scope of practice. Hawaii becomes the tenth state to mandate that insurers reimburse pharmacists for services within their scope of practice and provide parity coverage with other providers.

We are proud to have supported this bill alongside the Hawaii Pharmacists Association and submitted testimony when the bill was heard in the House and Senate committees earlier this year. NCPA congratulates Hawaii pharmacists on this fantastic win!
