Pharmacies are essential touchpoints for mental health care, providing a convenient venue to assess well-being and an established, trusting patient-provider relationship. We've gathered some anxiety and depression screening tools to help you identify where mental health interventions can be helpful for certain patients and appropriate treatment measures.
The anxiety screening tool is here, and the depression screening tool is here. They're also listed here, alongside a bevy of other resources we've provided for independent pharmacists seeking to improve their ability to help patients address mental health challenges.
If patient mental health is a topic you want to explore more, consider our Mental Health First Aid training, which teaches attendees how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. Our next training is June 11; more information here.
NCPA members can also find plenty more mental health-related content in this month's issue of America's Pharmacist®, including a pharmacist's battle against burnout, lessons on building "mental fitness" to help manage stress with a positive mindset, and a review of ways to effectively respond when a patient died by suicide, so that pharmacy leaders can help both themselves and their staff cope.
Thank you to the Cardinal Health Foundation for supporting mental health focused initiatives for pharmacy teams.
