Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin pushes for independent authority in contraceptive care

NCPA April 29, 2025

Wisconsin is seeking to join the 22 other states that permit pharmacists to prescribe contraception without needing a physician’s order or prescription. Assembly Bill 43 grants pharmacists new permissions to prescribe and dispense hormonal and self-administered oral contraception. The bill includes mandatory reimbursement from the state’s Medicaid program for services rendered and counseling. NCPA was proud to send testimony in support of this bill and commends the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin for their advocacy and commitment to expanding access to care.
