In mid-April, the Committee on Health and Social Services within the Alaska Senate had its first hearing on Senate Bill 147, a bill that would grant broader prescribing authority to pharmacists within their scope of practice and education. With over 300 areas in Alaska designated as health professional shortage areas, there are hundreds of pharmacists who are ready to provide valuable health care services to these communities. NCPA was proud to send a letter of support to the committee and applauds the Alaska Pharmacists Association for their advocacy efforts on this bill.
