New maternal immunization resource: A letter to connect with local providers

NCPA April 22, 2025

The NCPA Innovation Center has been hard at work putting out a variety of resources to help you build out maternal immunization services in your practice. In collaboration with Atrium24, the NCPA Innovation Center has launched a customizable “Dear doctor” letter that can help you begin to connect with local providers. It outlines CDC recommendations and highlights your ability to provide convenient, trusted care for pregnant patients. Step-by-step instructions are included to help you personalize and distribute the letter. That’s not the only maternal immunization content we have to offer, though.

Recently, we published a two-part series edition of our “Show Me” educational reality series. These latest two episodes feature 38th Street Pharmacy in Austin, Texas, where owner and pharmacist Matthew Warnken is eager to grow their maternal vaccine program. He’s helped by three subject experts: Hannah Fish, PharmD, NCPA senior director of strategic initiatives; and coaches Rannon Ching, owner and pharmacist at nearby Tarrytown Pharmacy, and local OB-GYN Julia Gutierrez, MD. Together, they explore innovative strategies for boosting outreach to patients and addressing hesitancy, collaborating with area providers, and integrating these offerings into the pharmacy’s workflow. You can find part one here, and part two here

Then there are the guides we released earlier this year with support from Pfizer. The Community Pharmacy Guide to Providing Vaccines During Pregnancy includes sections on operational considerations, increasing patient awareness, training and confidence, and billing and reimbursement as well as patient cases. The Providing Vaccines During Pregnancy Quick Reference Guide is a one-page document that is easy to keep in your pharmacy for all team members to quickly refer to when engaging this patient population.
