WASHINGTON, D.C. – A week after President Bush outlined ideas to help the unemployed survive while out of work and train for the available jobs in our changing labor market, the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) will host a Capitol Hill briefing Friday featuring key Department of Labor and Congressional staff and the president's former chief economic advisor to explain the details and possible impacts of the proposal.

Among the questions to be addressed at the NCPA briefing include:

• Could a new, worker-centered approach to retraining programs and unemployment insurance empower individuals, better prepare them for new jobs and ultimately reduce unemployment?
• Would Personal Re-Employment Accounts provide workers with the flexibility they need to choose a training path that best suits their needs to get a good job quickly?
• How would individual unemployment insurance accounts work and what impact could they have on the unemployment rate?
