NCPA To Unveil "Hybrid" Social Security Reform Plan

Goodman to Testify How to Solve Social Security Crisis Without Reducing Benefits or Raising Taxes
 
 WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 16, 2001) - John C. Goodman, president of the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) and Gov. Pete du Pont, NCPA Policy Chairman will unveil the NCPA's plan to reform Social Security during a lunchtime news conference Thursday, October 18. Following the news conference, Goodman will testify before the president's Commission to Strengthen Social Security, in which he will highlight benefits of the proposal.

The plan, which calls for the creation of Personal Retirement Accounts (PRAs), will allow the federal government to avert the long-term crisis facing Social Security and meet its obligations to current and future retirees without permanently raising tax rates or adding more debt. The NCPA plan also provides an explanation of how to fund the transition and to keep administration costs low.
