NCPA's du Pont To Tell House Budget Committee About The Demographic Dilemma Facing Social Security |
July 26, 2000 - NCPA Policy Chairman Pete du Pont, the former governor of Delaware and a one-time presidential candidate will testify to a special hearing of the U.S. House Budget Committee Thursday, July 27, on how investment-based reform is the best way to meet the demographic challenges of the Social Security system.
The House Budget Committee is meeting to focus on the economic concerns between generations. Issues to be discussed include the future viability of government-run health and retirement trust funds, specifically the solvency of Social Security and Medicare. Gov. du Pont will participate on the second of four panels with former Congressman Tim Penny and Dr. Henry Aaron, senior fellow with the Brookings Institution.
