House Budget Committee Chairman John Kasich
to Speak at Hatton W. Sumners Distinguished Lectures Series
|
Dallas - House Budget Committee Chairman John R. Kasich of Ohio will talk
about what to do with the budget surplus at the next National Center for Policy Analysis'
Hatton W. Sumners Distinguished Lecture Series Luncheon. The luncheon will be
Wednesday, May 27, in Dallas at the Wyndham Anatole. Valet parking will be provided
by the NCPA at the Chantilly Ballroom entrance. Representative Kasich's committee has just approved a $1.72 trillion fiscal
budget hat has created a controversy among Republicans as well as Democrats. That's
because Kasich's plan calls for more than three times the tax cuts approved by the Senate
in April.
Kasich was the chief architect of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997. He is also
responsible for chairing the committee that wrote the final version of the welfare reform
bill which became law in 1996. In April, Newsweek magazine named him one of
"100 People for the Next Century." Representative Kasich will hold a press conference in the Emerald Room
immediately following the luncheon. Call Jil Hicks at 972/386-6272 to confirm your
attendance and to make interview arrangements. WHO: WHAT: WHEN: WHERE:
