Dallas Taping of Firing Line
Debate to be Broadcast Twice in DFW

Dallas, TX - A recent taping of William F. Buckley's Firing Line Debate,
recorded in Dallas earlier this month hosted by the National Center for Policy Analysis and
sponsored by the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation, will be aired at 8 p.m., Sunday,
December 20, on KDTN Television/Channel 2and again at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 27,
on KERA Television/Channel 13. The debate was moderated by Slate on-line magazine editor Michael Kinsley
and featured two teams debating "Resolved: It's Time to Abolish the Welfare
State." On the affirmative team were Mr. Buckley; Governor Pete du Pont; National Center
for Policy Analysis President John C. Goodman; and Alan Keyes, former presidential
candidate and currently a nationally syndicated radio talk show host. On the opposing team were University of Texas professor James Galbraith;
former chair of the President's Council of Economic Advisors Laura Tyson; American
Prospect editor Robert Kuttner; and former Clinton welfare advisor William Curry.
The National Center for Policy Analysis is a public policy research
