NCPA EXPERT TO URGE CONGRESS:
The Transcript is available. |
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Dr. Barry Asmus, Senior Economist of the National Center for Policy Analysis, will deliver a "tax day" message to the House Ways & Means Committee on behalf of all Americans who pay the price for an ill-designed government-run tax system which discourages growth. Dr. Asmus will urge Congress to adopt a tax system that will keep Americans in pace with the new global economy - a consumer tax system which would maximize market efficiencies, broaden the tax base, and encourage growth, savings and investment. Without this change, according to Asmus, Americans will fall behind in the Information Age.
Dr. Asmus was named by USA Today as one of the five most requested speakers in the United States. He writes, consults, and testifies on taxes, health care, education and policy issues which promote free enterprise and limited government economy. He was principle commentator on the nationally-syndicated "Perspectives on Economy," and now broadcasts weekly on KMNY Los Angeles' money and business talk show. Dr. Asmus has authored a number of books, including Crossroads: The Great American Experiment, which was nominated for an H.L. Menken Award.
