Today, there are some 6 to 8 million Muslims living in France, about 10 to 13 percent of its total population. As a result, France has become the most "islamized" western country. Seeing France's inability to adapt to globalization or to the aging population, there are concerns that nation will be the first to be forced to facilitate the emergence of a "modern" Islam.

According to Jean-Christophe Mounicq of Tech Central Station, many Muslims come to France only to benefit from the state welfare system, such as free social housing, schooling and Medicare, but not to adapt to French rule of law. Last year, the government passed a bill to control immigration networks and stop some Muslim customs: polygamy, excision, repudiation and forced marriage.

Should France fail to absorb its fast growing Muslim community, there could be a clash between Islamic values and Western republican values. As judged by a recent Council of French Muslim election, it is estimated that approximately 40 percent of all French Muslims are fundamentalist -- comparable to populations in regions ranging from Algeria to Turkey.
