More Federal Money
I. There are large variations in the type of crime and amount of crime -
especially juvenile crime - across the country.
II. Because of these wide differences, ideal methods of fighting crime are
also likely to vary widely - from community to community.
III. Because of large variations in local crime rates, proposals to fund
local crime fighting with federal tax dollars are wasteful and unfair.
IV. A new federal spending program would invariably become distorted in
ways that could make the crime rate worse.
