- Virginia Manheimer, a philanthropist, is chairman of The Foundation for Educational Reform and Accountability, a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational policy research organization headquartered in Clifton Park, N.Y. She iis a founding member of The Club for Growth, an associate trustee of Media Research Institute and is a trustee of the Hickory Foundation.
- Virginia's central interest has been to promote school choice. In 1997, she offered to finance private-school scholarships for every student in a troubled Albany, N.Y. elementary school. More than a quarter of the pupils at Giffen Memorial Elementary School accepted her offer. This resulted in the Albany Board of Education making changes at Giffen in an attempt to improve this public school.
- Additionally, Virginia is involved in several historic preservation and visual arts projects.
- Virginia is a resident of New Jersey, and graduated from Columbia University in New York.
