- Devon M. Herrick is the Research Manager for the National Center for Policy Analysis, focusing on such issues as the uninsured, Internet-based medicine, medical privacy, as well as managed care and technology-related issues. He has training in financial analysis and health economics.
- After joining the NCPA as an intern in 1995, he became the information systems manager in July 1996. Then in September 1998 Mr. Herrick became the research manager.
- In his role as the information systems manager, Mr. Herrick was responsible for the NCPA's computer and information services, as well as overseeing the design and maintenance of the NCPA's award-winning website - Idea House. During his tenure, the traffic for Idea House grew from 20,000 page views per month to 1.2 million in December 1998.
- Prior to joining the NCPA, he was a research assistant for the University of Texas at Dallas where he worked for the Bruton Center for Development Studies. The Bruton Center is a research center that focuses on the integration of geographic information systems, spatial analysis, and exploratory data analysis in the social sciences. They perform applied research on trends, forces, and public policies that pertain to urban and regional development.
- In addition, Mr. Herrick has taught the Economics of Health at the University of Texas at Dallas, and has worked in health care accounting and financial management for a Dallas health care system. He received his Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1984 and a Masters of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University in 1985.
- He holds a Master of Science from Amber University as well as a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Dallas where he is pursuing a Ph.D. in political economy with a concentration in economic development, to be completed in 2001. Mr. Herrick's dissertation research is in the field "Patient Empowerment and the Internet."
