On the Speaker’s Circuit
 
  • NCPA President John C. Goodman presented a paper on national health insurance in other developed countries at a conference of the Mt. Pelerin Society in Salt Lake City on August 19. The Mt. Pelerin Society is an international group of scholars whose membership has included seven Nobel Prize winners.
  • Senior Fellow William Conerly presented a paper on reforming the unemployment insurance system also at the Mt. Pelerin Society meeting.
  • Goodman participated in a panel discussion, responding to new Treasury regulations on Health Savings Accounts at the American Enterprise Institute on July 16. The event was covered on C-Span.
  • Goodman addressed the Dallas Rotary Club on September 15 on the impact of healthcare and taxes in the coming election.
  • NCPA Senior Fellow Devon Herrick addressed the Texas Conservative Coalition in Austin on HSAs on August 24.
  • Herrick spoke to the Fort Worth Chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants about HSAs on August 20.
  • NCPA Senior Economist Barry Asmus spoke about the effects of global events on the U.S. economy in Las Vegas, Scottsdale (AZ), Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Atlanta, Phoenix, Pleasantville (KY) and Minneapolis. He spoke about his book, The Best Is Yet to Come, in San Diego, Dayton, Anchorage, Santa Cruz (CA), Colorado Springs, Scottsdale, Chicago, Reno, Jackson Hole (WY), Beavercreek (CO) and Salt Lake City.
