  • NCPA President John C. Goodman said in a special column for The Wall Street Journal that Sen. John Kerry's health plan will be expensive. His remarks also appeared in American Health Line, Congress Daily, the Omaha World-Herald and Bulletin Frontrunner.
  • NCPA Senior Fellow and Public Trustee of Social Security and Medicare Thomas R. Saving wrote in a special column for The Wall Street Journal on September 22 that the Social Security and Medicare programs will eventually consume all federal income tax revenues this year. His remarks also appeared in American Health Line.
  • NCPA research showing that 90 percent of the increase in the number of uninsured occurred in families earning $50,000 or more appeared in the August 30 edition of The Los Angeles Times. The research also was cited in The New York Times , the Sun-Sentinel (Ft. Lauderdale), the Akron Beacon-Journal, the Daily Press ( Newport News), the Albany (NY) Times-Union and CNBC's Closing Bell.
  • Syndicated personal finance columnist Scott Burns endorsed HSAs as the model for all healthcare insurance and credited Goodman as the "Father of HSAs."
  • NCPA Senior Policy Analyst Matt Moore told National Review's September 24 edition that President Bush and Sen. John Kerry both were visiting Florida; Bush to help with hurricane relief efforts and Kerry to scare seniors about Social Security. His remarks also appeared on Wisconsin Public Radio and WIBA-FM in Madison, WI.
  • NCPA Senior Fellow Devon Herrick told the September 14 edition of Investor's Business Daily that much of the growth in the number of uninsured occurs in households with incomes in excess of $50,000. His remarks also appeared in the Des Moines Register.
  • NCPA Senior Fellow Bruce Bartlett wrote syndicated columns appearing in the Washington Times, the New York Sun and other TV, radio and print outlets, concerning the presidential election, candidate agendas, Social Security and Medicare deficits, national sales tax, international and domestic economics, minimum wage, government intervention, and pro-growth tax reform.
  • NCPA Senior Fellow H. Sterling Burnett told the Orlando Sentinel on September 22 that hurricanes are not linked to global warming.
  • Bartlett told Slate magazine on September 21 that the middle class may be shrinking but only because more of them are rich.
  • Bartlett told the September 16 edition of The Dallas Morning News that tax reform is necessary, but may not be simple. His remarks also appeared in The State ( Columbia, SC).
  • Burnett told the September 16 edition of Duluth (MN) News Tribune that the environmental ideas put forth by researchers at Princeton University may do more harm than good.
  • Bartlett told the September 16 edition of the San Francisco Chronicle that regardless of who wins the election tax reform will be necessary. His remarks also appeared in the September 3 edition of The Dallas Morning News.
  • Bartlett told the September 13 edition of The New York Times that taxing domestic and multinational companies at different rates is unfair. His comments also appeared in the International Herald Tribune.
  • The September 12 edition of the Philadelphia Inquirer recommended the NCPA's main Web site, www.ncpa.org, as a resource for voters to learn about public policy issues.
  • Bartlett's remark that widespread prosperity has depleted the ranks of the middle class appeared in the September 9 edition of The Kansas City Star.
  • Herrick and NCPA Research Coordinator Russell Bennett told the September edition of Health Care News that drug importation is not free trade.
  • Moore told the September 6 edition of The Dallas Morning News that President Bush's "ownership" reforms for federal programs like Social Security are welcome and overdue.
  • NCPA Senior Fellow William Conerly told the Biloxi Sun-Herald on September 5 that worker productivity continues to climb and will lead to more jobs at better wages.
  • A joint report by the NCPA and The Fraser Institute of Canada showing the ranking of states by labor market flexibility appeared in the September 4 edition of the Salt Lake (UT) Tribune. The report was also cited in the Bloomington (IL) Pantagraph.
  • Bartlett told the Christian Science Monitor that rural flea markets are not so rural anymore and can be big business.
  • Burnett told the Grand Forks Herald on August 30 that Sen. John Kerry's stance on the Kyoto Protocol is confusing.
  • In a special column for The Los Angeles Times on August 29, Bartlett said that President Bush needs to stick to conservative principles as he campaigns for a second term. His remarks also appeared on the Marketplace (PRI) syndicated radio program and the St. Petersburg (FL) Times.
  • NCPA research that female "swing" voters may turn to the party in November's election that seizes women's economic issues appeared in The Dallas Morning News on August 29.
  • Herrick told the August 27 edition of TheDallas Morning News that despite recent economic hard times, there's never been this many Americans with health insurance. His remarks also appeared in the Orlando Sentinel,United Press International, and on WWIB-FM ( Chippewa Falls, WI).
  • In its August 27 edition, The Intelligencer ( Wheeling, W. Va.) cited NCPA research on Sen. John Kerry's statements on Social Security, and agrees with NCPA's conclusion that Kerry only has two options: increase debt or cut other government programs. http://news-register.net/
  • Burnett told the Columbus (OH) Dispatch on August 23 that the science of climate change does not support most environmental restrictions.
  • Bartlett told the Deseret ( Salt Lake City) News that Massachusetts' Governor Mitt Romney will play a special role in this week's Republic convention, especially if he can deliver his state to President Bush.
  • NCPA research showing that the "real" price of gasoline is historically low appeared in the August 16 edition of The Daily Oklahoman ( Oklahoma City).
  • Bartlett told the August 14 edition of the Chicago Tribune that federal deficits over the near-term will frustrate any efforts to change the tax system, regardless of who is president. His remarks also appeared in the Bradenton (FL) Herald.
  • NCPA E-Team research, showing that technology plays a larger role in reducing smog than stricter guidelines, appeared in the August 11 edition of McClatchy Newspapers.
  • NCPA Senior Economist Barry Asmus told the Alaska Journal of Commerce that 2005 will be an even better year for the stock market.
  • Bartlett told Fortune magazine on August 9 that taxes will have to rise after the election no matter which party wins Congress or the presidency.
  • Burnett told the Albany Times-Union that Congress hasn't done much to improve the nation's electricity grid as we approach the anniversary of last year's blackout.
  • Moore told the Austin American-Statesman on August 8 that Social Security is emerging as a defining domestic issue in the presidential campaign. His comments also appeared in the Palm Beach (FL) Post and on the Cox News Service.
  • NCPA Washington Representative Jack Strayer told the Duluth (MN) News Tribune that Sen. John Kerry's stance on Iraq could backfire in the upcoming election.
  • Herrick told The Dallas Morning News on July 31 that generic drugs carry the greatest variation in cost.
  • Bartlett told the Christian Science Monitor on July 28 that Sen. John Kerry could help his campaign and give voters a better look at what kind of president he wants to be by naming the candidates for his cabinet.
  • Bartlett’s brief analysis showing that restrictions on outsourcing may save a few U.S. jobs in the short run but come at the expense of better higher-paying jobs in the future was featured by the Press Trust of India and Asia Pulse Limited.
  • Moore told Family News in Focus on July 24 that Social Security should be a big issue in the 2004 campaigns because of its funding crisis.
  • Herrick told the July issue of Dermatology Business Management that HSAs will help doctors by simplifying billing and collections.
  • Strayer told the July 23 edition of the Monterey (CA) Herald that drug imports should be limited. His remarks also were carried on KION-AM.
  • Burnett’s comments about the use of alternative power appeared in the Daily Record ( Columbia, WA)
  • Burnett told the July 23 edition of the Miami Herald that the science backing claims of human-induced global warming has been discredited. His remarks also appeared in the Grand Forks (NE) Herald.
  • The Los Angeles Times referenced NCPA research on obtaining convictions in the prosecution of rape cases in its July 23 edition.
  • NCPA research on the funding crisis in Social Security appeared in the July 22 edition of The Wall Street Journal.
  • NCPA research showing that HSAs are reducing the number of uninsured appeared in the July 21 edition of Investors Business Daily and also in the Sarasota (FL) Herald Tribune.
  • Burnett told United Press International on July 21 that states’ attorneys-general should not be setting policies designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. His remarks also appeared in the Augusta (GA) Chronicle.
  • Citing a study written by Saving, syndicated columnist Scott Burns wrote in his July 20 column in TheDallas Morning News that Social Security is in deep financial trouble.
  • Burnett told the Washington Times on July 18 in a special column that the U.S.’s electricity transmission system isn’t a third-world system, but it does need to be updated.
  • Bartlett told the National Journal on July 17 that the budget deficit will be a big issue in the coming presidential election.
  • NCPA E-Team Project Manager Sean Tuffnell told the July 12 edition of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the available data on global warming is hardly definitive.
  • Strayer told the July 11 edition of the Akron Beacon-Journal that Medicare discount cards can be a good deal, but they are only temporary. His comments also appeared in the Myrtle Beach (SC) Sun News, the Monterey County (CA) Herald and the Augusta (GA) Chronicle.
  • NCPA Research Associate Todd Gabel’s article, “Ronald Reagan: A Visionary, Heroic Leader,” appeared in the July issue of Fraser Forum.
  • Herrick told United Press International on July 6 that many Americans are uninsured by choice.
  • Bartlett told the July 5 edition of the New Republic that the Congressional Budget Office analyses often support the Democrats’ agenda because they aren’t using dynamic scoring to evaluate tax cuts and estimate growth.
  • Herrick told the July 4 edition of The New York Times that over-the-counter drugs are a boon to most patients, but care should be taken in purchasing them from unknown Web sites.
  • du Pont told the July 4 edition of the Sun News ( Myrtle Beach, SC) that the Kerry-Kennedy minimum wage proposal will hurt the people it’s designed to help, low-income workers and the poor.
