- On March 25 and 26, NCPA President John C. Goodman spoke about consumer-driven healthcare at the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) 2004 Washington Economic Policy Conference: "Economic Policy in Transition: From Short-term Stimulus to Long-term Sustainability."
- NCPA Senior Fellow Devon Herrick told the Texas House Select Committee on Health Care Expenditures on March 24 that consumer-driven health insurance plans are the best way to stop spiraling healthcare prices.
- NCPA Senior Fellow Bruce Bartlett participated in a March 22 Congressional briefing on the estate tax sponsored by the American International Auto Dealers Association.
- NCPA President John C. Goodman participated in a panel discussion with Rep. Clay Shaw (R-FL) at the Brookings Institution on March 15 about Social Security reform.
- Goodman was the featured speaker at the Heritage Foundation’s panel discussion, “A Vision for Health System Change and How to Bring It About,” on March 2.
- Goodman also explained the benefits of Health Savings Accounts and Medicare reform legislation at a meeting of the Club for Growth February 20-22 in West Palm Beach (FL).
- NCPA Senior Economist Barry Asmus headlined the Northeast Mississippi Annual Economic Forecast conference in Tupelo on January 19.
- Bartlett was a panelist at a Washington, D.C. tax conference, “Is the Tax System Rigged in Favor of the Super-Rich?” sponsored by the Tax Policy Center of the Urban Institute on January 9. Bartlett’s comments were chronicled in the February 2004 edition of American Prospect, and his remarks also appeared in Tax Notes.
- Asmus spoke about the effect of global events on the U.S. economy in Scottsdale (AZ), Anaheim (CA), Maui, Los Angeles, Biloxi (MS), Dallas, Tupelo (MS), Laquinta (CA), Ft. Lauderdale and Minneapolis and about his book, “The Best Is Yet to Come,” in Phoenix, Chicago, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Paradise Valley (CA), Palm Springs, Orlando and New York City .
