• Václav Klaus, President of the Czech Republic, received the 2003 NCPA Distinguished Leader Award at an NCPA/Sumners Foundation Distinguished Lecture Series dinner on September 22. The award was made possible by The Charlotte and Walter Kohler Charitable Trust in recognition of President Klaus’ historic leadership in creating a free market democracy. As part of the award, the NCPA will publish President Klaus’ major speeches on the principles that have guided the Czech Republic’s economic transition from socialism to free markets and the lessons that have been learned from the application of those principles during the post-Communist era.
